nc history: charlotte hawkins brown museum

In 1902, Dr. Charlotte Hawkins Brown established the Palmer Institute, an educational center for African Americans. The site is now a museum, located in Sedalia, North Carolina. It’s one of those small state historic landmarks that you discover by accident…I was there for a meeting and learned so much about the site and Dr. Brown. She was by all accounts a remarkable woman.
